Acidic foods and drinks can lead to tooth enamel erosion due to their high acid content. Frequent consumption of products containing acid makes you susceptible to tooth erosion. They can eventually damage the enamel and expose the dentine underneath. Consequently, your teeth can be at risk of tooth decay and sensitivity. As a matter of fact, dental erosion is one of the most common sources of cavities and tooth loss.

Since these types of foods can be part of your diet and most of them are undeniably tasty and sweet, you can still minimize acid wear even you eat them by doing some few things. Too much of everything is not good, and this also goes out for all acidic foods. The less and seldom you eat them, the better you can uphold the enamel of your teeth. Don’t eat them in between meals to lessen acid attacks. For acidic drinks, don’t hold them in your mouth. Another of way neutralizing acid attacks is by rinsing mouth with water or chewing sugarless gums after eating. Instead of consuming too many sour or acidic snacks, eat more foods that are high in calcium to help reharden tooth enamel. Foods that are also rich in iron may also help.

These are some of the many helpful and effective tips that you can do at home or anywhere to help save your smile and lessen your risk for tooth enamel erosion.
