It’s a mad, mad world and we all seem to be running around bombarded by information, interruptions and advertisement. It can be difficult to carve out a few minutes of peace and calm without being the target of some advertising campaign, the professionals at Bondi Dental would like to offer you this small and semi-random list of myths about teeth. Nothing serious here, just a bit of fun.
Some of the myths that revolve around how to cure a toothache can be quite entertaining.
- One myth is that chewing cloves will cure a toothache. This is patently false! Cloves do contain, a chemical that can cleanse and numb an area. So chewing on cloves might offer temporary relief from the pain of a toothache. But in no way do cloves fix the source of a toothache.
- Funniest of all myths is that kissing a donkey, or some other equine family member, can cure a toothache. FALSE! The only way that this method could be effective is if the donkey became offended and kicked the kisser in the mouth, dislodging the exact tooth responsible for the toothache. So, cure not going to happen. Chances of causing a lot more pain than that caused by a toothache? Very high! Not recommended.
- Finally, a myth similar to the first one is that onions have antiseptic and antimicrobial properties that control a toothache and can provide relief from pain by killing the germs causing an infection. As usual with these myths, using onions for treatment of a toothache will only lead to more trouble down the road. The answer to a toothache is to see your Bondi Dental
